Big Finish Audio drama, 8th Doctor New Adventures, May 2009
The first half of this story definitely has a cliffhanger and a half! Whoa Nelly!!! Another case of mistaken identity gone awry. The adventure starts up right away with large creatures smashing things in a carriage and, of course, Lucie and the Doctor arrive after the carnage is complete. So they are forced to be investigators due to circumstance and they end up in seemingly innocent circumstances that turn out to be quite a bit more deadly than they expect.
Part I quickly accelerates into danger and intrigue with a few friends found along the way. The only complaint I have is how easily the friends and enemies fall into line. The character development is there but pretty standard in general. But I love it so far! Go Barnaby Edwards!
We’ve returned from the dregs of the season and found a very cool way to continue with this season. Adventure and sarcasm and humor and mysterious bad guys galore! I loved it! I wasn’t sure how they could incorporate the alien beings angle but it was brought in very neatly. Everything comes together in the end and there are even exciting cliffhangers at the end of each section of the story. Excellent job, Barnaby Edwards!
