The Book of Kells

Big Finish 8th Doctor New Adventures 4.04, September 2010

There is a lot of fun to be had with this story!  I enjoyed it from beginning to end, with Tamesin falling in and out of various pits, which does get a bit silly, to be honest.  This story works MUCH better than the previous ones at the shorter length.  There are some details I cannot discuss which come in at the very end of the story – don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone!  But I didn’t even realize what I’d just heard until I listened to the CD extras!  It was almost tossed in as an afterthought, it seemed but it sure raises a LOT of questions.  Wow.  Yeah.

But the rest of the story was a fun historical adventure.  The craziness started from moment #1 and just kept on coming.  The villains become heroes and the heroes villains and the story goes round and round all over the place.  But it all fits together nicely, from beginning to end.  Well written and fun to listen to but I’m not sure it has a lot of re-listen value.  So just 4 out of 5 jelloids for this historical adventure.
