Big Finish 8th Doctor New Adventures, July 2009
This is a really cool concept but it doesn’t quite come off well. There is this one scapegoat for the species who dies pretty regularly. But it’s all very confusing as to the point of everything. It’s explained, ultimately, but this is a gore-fest gone bad, I think. Jack the Ripper as a sheep? Or are they goats? It’s never quite clear. It’s well placed in history but I never got more than a brief “feeling” of that history around the story. I liked it overall but it just became a bit tedious towards the end as Lucie’s reduced to screaming a lot and asking questions, then being bossy. I like it when she’s bossy first. And The Doctor’s just there to stop the slaughter but it all ends rather in a lump instead of a smooth whoosh. If that makes any sense… :)
