The Fall of the House of Pollard (1.3)

  Big Finish, Charley Pollard Adventures

The most memorable and poignant of the stories, this one takes awhile to build up to Charley’s return home to her parents. We get the details of how her family has fared since she left and the aftermath of when she “leaves” again, which is possibly the saddest part of all. Life for the Pollards hasn’t been all wine and roses for sure and they’re left with little money and just one servant, Violet. So Michael Dee shows up at the Pollards’s house with news of Charley, who is trapped in the Ever and Ever Prolixity. And somehow he can use his mental powers to bring her fully back into the world. And then be tortured for his troubles by the Viyrans – the very dark side of what they do.

This story allows Charley some closure with her family, fortunately. Though how they deal with all of her relatives is a bit of a question for me but this is the Viyrans… The acting if fantastic and it’s fun to hear Anneke Wills as Charley’s mother again. They all have a great chemistry and everything is really intense in this story!
