Harvest of the Sycorax (CD, NM 1.3)

Big Finish - Classic Doctors, New Monsters, Vol. 1

This story is the best of the bunch, just beating out the 6th Doctor’s story. The 7th Doctor arrives on a space station where the Sycorax are attempting to force the humans to open a vault with blood samples of all of the humans in the galaxy. Or just on Earth? I wasn’t quite sure. The samples are held by Pharma Corps, a company responsible for sedating humans by giving everyone a robot with suggestions on what meds to take every time something happens – stressed? Take this. Sad? Take that. So humans aren’t sad, depressed, scared, or stressed anymore. There are even designer viruses they can buy! Very futuristic.

But it turns out that the Sycorax made a deal with someone to get into the vault and with their blood controlling technology, they would be able to control the whole human race. Except for a select few with a particular virus in their blood which makes them immune to the Sycorax. So the Doctor hatches a plan, naturally, that goes awry multiple times but ultimately, he saves the day. With a little help from his friends. Loved this one!
