The Haunting of Malkin Place (6.5)

  Big Finish, Fourth Doctor Series

There’s a ghost in the attic of Baker Street, multiple ghosts in the walls and halls of Malkin place, and a ghostly presence throughout this story. Just who are the ghosts, really? And why is Beatrice so protective of her brother, Maury. He’s determined to understand why he is being haunted by his comrades from WWI and she’s just as determined to ignore it all because she doesn’t want to lose the rest of her family, especially her twin brother. Losing your family is one thing but I suspect losing a twin is another level of painful loss.

What I really love about this story is the mystery of Mrs. Mountford, who is the true mystery, in my mind. The Doctor and Romana seem to just ignore her but she just spooks me out more than the supposed ghosts in the house. And naturally time travel technology is involved in the mystery or it wouldn’t be Dr. Who! So a giant thumbs up on this one. Fun and involving.
