Series 13

Big Finish, J&L Series 13 (final series)

The only reason I didn’t give this season 5 out of 5 is the alternate timeline piece of it and where they end up. I generally like moving the dynamic duo in time or location, as they did with the Doctor. I am not a huge fan of moving them through alternate realities because I want them to be able to go home! I miss the family feeling of the whole team, with Quick and Elly and Jago and Litefoot. I want that back! Thus the 4 out of 5 as otherwise, this is a fantastic set of stories!

I love how the psychologist gets what’s coming to her in The Stuff of Nightmares. I really wanted her to be eaten by some villain or other. The Chapel of Night has them shutting down a woman trying to replace people with her army from another dimension. Meh, standard fare for them. I really just wanted How the Other Half Lives to get a move on sometimes as we’re seeing this reality’s team meet each other and it got very confusing as to who was who at times. It really, REALLY did. Then they get to wrap up the storyline for the Chapel of Night in this tale, Too Much Reality. That I did really enjoy, even with the investigative team of Aubrey and Bettermen. Fantastic casting here! I hope they join in the next story.

Hmmm. Perhaps I have more complaints than I realize, though this is just an awesome box set in general. I had a great time listening to it and the after interviews are up to the usual fantastic standard as well. Well worth the time to listen to this one!
