The Darkness of Glass (#4.2)

  Big Finish, Fourth Doctor Series

Look out! There’s a demon in the glass and human who thinks that there are rules for summoning demons, like in D&D. Naturally he’s wrong. This story has the Doctor and Leela landing on Earth and wandering across a rapidly disappearing path to a castle off the coast of England. There are people there, which apparently there aren’t normally, and they are waiting for a lanternist show – an old timey slide projection show. And someone isn’t being honest about the motives for the show as people start dying…

I really enjoyed this story but like many of these 4th Doctor adventures, it feels like it’s missing maybe 5 minutes of exposition that would make things seem less like a jump from scene to scene to scene. It’s almost like a Michael Bay movie with all sorts of cuts and action but leaving out some of the less important stuff. It’s fun to listen to but it leaves me going “huh?” at moments as the action just steam rolls on past. Great acting and ideas but just missing those little touches that make it fantastic.
