The Quantum Possibility Engine (#243)

    Big Finish Main Range

The one thing I found lacking is the technobabble about this quantum possibility engine. Perhaps I just missed it when Narvin and the Doctor were discussing it but I just found the technology discussion a bit lacking. This story is about the characters and righting the wrongs of the story. Of course!

This story continues directly from the previous story, The Disposessed. Mel comes into the TARDIS and knocks out the Doctor and Ace, taking the TARDIS to Dogbolter, the president of the universe around the Earth, contained in a bubble. So that’s all a bit odd. Apparently Mel’s debt became much more serious and she had to turn over the TARDIS to cancel it. So that part is good but it’s all bad from there for most of the story. There is little pre-planning from the 7th Doctor, unlike his usual universal plan.

So Narvin comes to rescue the Doctor and gets caught up in events, showing his snobby nature while he’s at it. It’s fun to see the team in different jobs, though Ace is doing what I would always expect her to do – poice officer. The story meanders a bit and Mel seems to be doing some good work on her own but then spends most of episode 3 hiding out, sadly. Though fun, I was a bit disappointed with this one.

Sylvester McCoy (The Doctor), Sophie Aldred (Ace), Bonnie Langford (Mel) Sean Carlsen (Narvin), Toby Longworth (Dogbolter), Wayne Forester (Hob / Soldier Robots / Alex), Jules de Jongh (Captain Regent of the Krasi). Other parts played by members of the cast.
